A suspect is in custody after a bank robbery Saturday afternoon in north suburban Evanston.
The non-takeover robbery happened at 12:33 p.m. at a Chase Bank branch at 635 N. Chicago Ave., according to FBI spokesman Garrett Croon.
A suspect was taken into custody and no injuries were reported, Croon said. Further details were not immediately available.

Harden scores 42, rallies Rockets past Bulls 121-117 in OT

HOUSTON (AP) -- James Harden had 42 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists to rally the Houston Rockets past the Chicago Bulls 121-117 in overtime Friday night.
Harden hit a step-back jumper over Paul Zipser with 36.1 seconds remaining in the extra period and was fouled. He made the free throw to give the Rockets a two-point lead they never relinquished.
After losing to Atlanta on Thursday night, the Rockets improved to 12-1 this season in the second of back-to-back games.
The Bulls played without star forward Jimmy Butler, who was nursing a bruised heel. Starting in his place, Michael Carter-Williams had 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists before fouling out with two minutes remaining in overtime.
Harden hit a step-back jumper over Carter-Williams to tie the game at 108 with 27.3 seconds remaining in regulation.
On the next possession, Dwyane Wade lost his dribble when guarded by Trevor Ariza, leading to a shot-clock violation with 3.3 seconds to go. Harden tried the same move against Carter-Williams at the buzzer, but his shot fell short.
Chicago dominated the Rockets' interior defense, outscoring Houston 60-46 in the paint. Taj Gibson scored 20 points for the Bulls, and Wade had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Rockets built a lead that reached 17 midway through the second quarter as they opened the period on a 26-7 run, all with Harden on the bench. Chicago cut Houston's lead to 60-49 at halftime.
The Bulls started the third quarter on a run of their own, outscoring the Rockets 24-12 out of the extended halftime break and entered the fourth quarter with a two-point lead.

Man gets 6 years after cops find 7 pounds of synthetic marijuana

An Elgin man was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday after authorities found about 3,200 grams of synthetic marijuana in his home and wife’s vehicle in northwest suburban Elgin.
John G. Monteleone, 48, was convicted in November 2016 on felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of more than 200 grams of a controlled substance, delivery of less than 50 grams of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Authorities conducted a three-month investigation and issued a search warrant in September 2013 for Monteleone’s business in the 1400 block of Commerce Drive in Algonquin, prosecutors said. Authorities seized nearly 200 grams of a synthetic cannabinoid called “spice.” Monteleone also had between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
At his home, in the 100 block of Brookside Drive in Elgin, authorities found about 3,200 grams of the same synthetic marijuana in his wife’s vehicle, prosecutors said.
Evidence was presented by the state during his trial that established Monteleone and his 46-year-old wife, Tracy, were knowingly in possession of the synthetic marijuana and intended to sell it.
In September 2014, Tracy Monteleone pleaded guilty to a felony count of possession of more than 200 grams of a controlled substance and was sentenced to four years probation, prosecutors said.
John Monteleone is required to serve at least 75 percent of his six-year sentence and received credit for 102 days served in the Kane County and McHenry County jails, prosecutors said.
“For years we have seen the deadly consequences of synthetic drugs on our community and especially on the lives of young adults. These consequences prompted the General Assembly to ban the synthetic drugs that this defendant was dealing. But this defendant, who already was a convicted felon, chose to run a criminal enterprise instead of a legitimate business, placing his own greed in front of the safety of our community. Prison is the appropriate place for repeat felons, and this prosecution should send a message that we aggressively pursue all drug dealers,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said in a statement.

Clark Street Bridge to partially close Monday for repairs

Traffic along the Clark Street Bridge will be reduced to one lane downtown on Monday for repairs lasting through August, city officials said.
All but one traffic lane and either the east or west sidewalk of the bridge will be closed after the morning rush so the city can make repairs to the bridge’s road decks and sidewalks, according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation. At least one lane of traffic and one sidewalk will remain open throughout the bridge’s construction.
People driving south on Clark who wish to avoid delays should turn west on Grand to southbound Wells and then eastbound on Wacker back to Clark, according CDOT. Drivers can also avoid delays by heading eastbound on Illinois to southbound State and then west on Wacker back to Clark.
The CTA plans to continue using Clark Street for its regularly scheduled bus service, according to CDOT.

Kane, Blackhawks beat Coyotes 4-3 to snap 3-game skid

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The first period was one of Chicago's best all season, but it gave way to a penalty-ridden second. Through it all, the Blackhawks found a cure for their ailing power play and stopped a three-game slide.
Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, Duncan Keith added two assists and the Blackhawks defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-3 on Thursday night.
Chicago led twice by three goals but yielded three in the second period and had to hold on. Ryan Hartman, Marian Hossa and Artemi Panarin also scored for the Blackhawks.
Christian Dvorak and Brendan Perlini each had a goal and an assist for the Coyotes. Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored for Arizona.
The Blackhawks scored twice in 72 seconds during the first period, their initial goal coming 15 seconds into a power play. Kane's left-handed shot pinged off the crossbar and down into the cage at 8:44.
Hartman made it 2-0 at the 9:56 mark, his long shot zipping through several players in front and past Arizona goalie Mike Smith.
"One of our best periods in a long time," Hossa said. "It's nice to have a few power-play goals to be able to give us some confidence."
Smith finished with 22 saves, but several kept the Coyotes in the game. Corey Crawford turned aside 24 shots for Chicago.
The Blackhawks, who entered with one goal on their last 20 power plays, scored on the man advantage again at 14:15. Hossa, stopped by Smith on a breakaway early in the game, zoomed past defender Alex Goligoski and fired in on the move for a 3-0 lead.
Hossa's 19 goals lead the Blackhawks this season.
"Power play did some nice things. Great shot by Kaner, showed some speed in the middle, did some good things in the zone as well," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "Nice to get that going. That really helped us get off to such a great start in the game."
Many in the sellout crowd of 17,125 wore Blackhawks jerseys. Coyotes fans finally got their chance to cheer when defenseman Luke Schenn and Chicago's Andrew Desjardins threw punches late in the period.
Schenn got the better of the fight, leaving Desjardins bloodied, but took the worst of the punishment as far as penalty minutes. Schenn was handed seven minutes for fighting and instigating, and a 10-minute misconduct.
Two quick penalties nine seconds apart to start the second period gave the Coyotes a 5-on-3 power play, and Ekman-Larsson scored off a pass from Radim Vrbata to cut the Blackhawks' lead to 3-1. Arizona has scored in the second period of six straight games.
Panarin made it 4-1 at 5:24 with his 18th goal of the season. Kane helped set it up when he fought for a loose puck, and was credited with an assist.
The Coyotes benefited from 10 second-period minutes in penalties against the Blackhawks and made it 4-2 at 14:24 when Dvorak got a deflection of Shane Doan's shot past Crawford. Perlini scored at 15:51 to cut the margin to one, and the Blackhawks had to kill what started as a 5-on-3 disadvantage in the closing minutes of the period.
Crawford did the splits to block a try from Alex Burmistrov during that Coyotes power play.
"There's lots of try there. I'd just like to see our execution a little better, a little less thinking about the game and a little more doing in the game early," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said.
Arizona pulled Smith for an extra attacker with 1:25 to play, but couldn't come up with a tying goal.
"I liked how we stabilized the game in the third period," Quenneville said.

6 shot across city on Thursday

At least six people were shot across Chicago on Thursday, leaving four seriously wounded.
About 7:30 p.m. in East Garfield Park, two men were driving through the 600 block of North Kedzie in the West Side neighborhood when another car pulled alongside them and one of four people in it opened fire, according to Chicago Police. One man, 24, was shot in the shoulder, and the other, 26, in the back. They were taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Shortly after 6 p.m., another pair of men were outside in the 7300 block of South Dante in the Grand Crossing neighborhood when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired a gun, hitting a 28-year-old in the shoulder and a 39-year-old in the face, police said. The older man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the younger showed up at Jackson Park Hospital. They were in serious condition.
Just before 2 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot in the foot in the 2300 block of West Logan in Avondale, police said. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.
Thursday’s first shooting happened about 1 p.m. in Chatham on the South Side, where an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 8300 block of South Maryland, police said. He was in good condition at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The end of the day marked the city’s longest stretch so far this year without a reported fatal shooting, a streak came to an end at 55 hours early Friday.
Eight people were shot in the city on Wednesday. At least 324 people have been shot in Chicago since Jan. 1, leaving 53 dead.

Family displaced in Elgin house fire

A fire Wednesday night caused more than $60,000 in damage to a house and rendered it uninhabitable in northwest suburban Elgin.
Crews were called at 8:18 p.m. about a fire at the house in the 1300 block of Royal Boulevard, according to a statement from the Elgin Fire Department. They arrived to find the fire in the living room and quickly extinguished it.
While the flames were contained to the living room, the fire caused smoke damage throughout the house, fire officials said. It also damaged the electrical system and water pipes.
All utilities to the house had to be shut off because of the damage, rendering it uninhabitable, according to the fire department. The cost of the damage was estimated to be between $60,000 and $80,000.
One of the home’s occupants was evaluated for smoke inhalation but refused transport to a hospital, officials said. The fire department secured a complimentary hotel room for the family while their landlord secures long-term accommodations.
