Police investigate ‘attempted child enticement’ in Elmhurst
Police are investigating an “attempted child enticement” Monday afternoon in west suburban Elmhurst.
Officers responded shortly after 2:15 p.m. to a report of a suspicious person and vehicle and a possible child luring in the 500 block of West Lorraine Avenue, according to a statement from Elmhurst police.
A boy told investigators a red van approached and the driver, a white man, thought to be in his 50s with long brown hair, asked the boy if he had seen his brown dog, police said. The boy told investigators he said no, and the man then asked if he would help him find his dog.
The boy again said no and ran to his house, police said. Officers searched the area and found the red van, which had stickers on it, and the owner, who matched the boy’s description.
The man told the officers he thought his partially blind brown dog had gotten loose, and he was driving around the neighborhood looking for it and asking people if they had seen it, police said. He said he didn’t offer anyone a ride in the van. The dog was found to be in the owner’s backyard.
Elmhurst police urged residents to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.

Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews named NHL's Second Star of the Week
Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews was named the National Hockey League's Second Star of the Week on Monday for the week ending Feb. 26, 2017.
Toews recorded multi-point efforts in each of the Blackhawks three games (4-5-9) as Chicago won all three contests to improve their overall record to 39-18-5 (83 points), second in the Central Division. On Feb. 21, Toews matched career highs for goals (3) and points (5) in a game, including the winning tally, in a 5-3 victory over the Central Division-leading Minnesota Wild. The Blackhawks captain then notched two assists in a 6-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Feb. 23 before closing out the week with one goal and one assist in a 4-2 triumph over the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 26. The 28-year-old Winnipeg, Man., native is currently riding a six-game point streak (5-8-13).
Nashville's Filip Forsberg was named the first star, while Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau was named the third star.

Talbot leads Oilers past Blackhawks 3-1
Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) -- Cam Talbot made 38 saves, Connor McDavid scored his 20th goal and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 on Saturday night for their third straight win.
Matt Benning and Milan Lucic also scored for Edmonton in the opener of its season-high six-game road trip. McDavid, who leads the NHL in points, fired into an empty net with 27 seconds left.
Talbot, the NHL's busiest goalie in games and minutes played, lost a shutout bid when Richard Panik scored his 15th goal with 4:47 left. Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews earned his 600th NHL point with a nice pass on the play.
Chicago had won five straight - all on the road. It was its first home game since Jan. 26.
Corey Crawford made 19 saves for the Blackhawks, who were coming off a 5-1 victory at Edmonton last Saturday in their final game before their bye week.
The Blackhawks outshot the Oilers 12-4 in a scoreless first period and had ample chances, including shots by Marian Hossa and Artemi Panarin that clanked off the post.
Chicago dominated again for much of the second, outshooting Edmonton 16-9, but trailed 1-0 after 40 minutes.
Benning opened the scoring with a fluke power-play goal at 5:02. Benning's centering pass from the right corner deflected in off the skate of Chicago defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, who was in the crease.
The Oilers were awarded a power play after Blackhawks rookie Ryan Hartman was penalized for instigating a fight with Edmonton's Eric Gryba after Gryba shoved him into the boards.
Lucic made it 2-0 at 9:50 of the third. He skated into the right circle, pulled up and stopped, then fired a low shot between Crawford's pads.
NOTES: Edmonton D Kris Russell missed his fifth straight game with a lower-body injury. Oilers D Darnell Nurse (ankle surgery) missed his 33rd game but has resumed skating and is expected to rejoin the team on its trip. ... Blackhawks D Brent Seabrook skated in his 900th game. The 31-year-old Seabrook, Chicago's first-round draft pick in 2003, is in his 12th season with the team. ... Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, who played his first NHL game against the Blackhawks at Chicago Stadium in 1979, attended the contest.

Two people were killed and at least eight more, including a 13-year-old boy, were wounded in South and West side shootings to start the President’s Day holiday weekend, according to Chicago Police.
The latest killing happened about 4:30 a.m. in Back of the Yards, where officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 4500 block of South Wood and found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head being put into a vehicle by several friends. Less than two hours earlier in the same neighborhood, officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 5000 block of South Ashland about 3 a.m. found a 23-year-old man inside a building with a gunshot wound to his back. He was dead at the scene, police said.
Officers also found a 28-year-old man nearby who had run away and was shot in the right leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. The circumstances of the shooting were unknown.
About 11:30 p.m. Friday in the Austin neighborhood, two boys, ages 13 and 16, were walking in the 5100 block of West Concord when they heard shots and realized they’d been struck, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the younger boy was in critical condition with a chest wound and the older was stabilized with a leg wound.
Shortly before 9 p.m., a 24-year-old man was walking through a Gresham neighborhood alley in the 8300 block of South Winchester when a vehicle drove up to him and someone inside shot him in the leg, police said. His condition was stabilized at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Butler lifts Bulls to 104-103 victory over Celtics
AP Sports Writer
CHICAGO (AP) -- Jimmy Butler and Isaiah Thomas should have plenty to talk about when they see each other in New Orleans this weekend.
Butler made two free throws with 0.9 seconds left, sending the Chicago Bulls to a 104-103 victory over Thomas and the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.
Butler's clutch foul shots capped a memorable duel with fellow All-Star Thomas in the NBA's final game before the break. Butler and Thomas both finished with 29 points and seven assists.
Butler was touched on the right elbow by Marcus Smart on a turnaround jumper as the horn sounded, drawing a foul. Butler calmly patted his elbow and then walked toward the line while an incredulous Smart danced up the court in disbelief.
"He got a piece of the elbow," Butler said. "People are going to say 'Aw, he didn't foul him,' but he did. So at the end of the day they made the right call."
Said Thomas: "That's horrible when it costs you a game you should have won. That's a bad call."
After Butler's free throws, Al Horford air-balled a baseline jumper on the Celtics' last shot, giving Chicago (28-29) consecutive wins against Eastern Conference powers Toronto and Boston (37-20).
"I'm excited about these two wins over two very good teams," coach Fred Hoiberg said. "Hopefully, we can build off of these coming back off the break."
Bobby Portis had a season-high 19 points for the Bulls, who went 22 for 22 at the line. Robin Lopez had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Taj Gibson finished with 12 points and nine boards.
"It's big for us. It's going to propel us to the second half of the season, which our team really needs," Portis said.
Thomas went 8 for 18 from the field in his 41st straight game with at least 20 points, breaking the team record set by John Havlicek during the 1971-72 season. He made two free throws with 1:30 left to make it 103-100, but he was blocked by Butler on a layup attempt and missed a jumper down the stretch.
Boston also was outrebounded 51-31, leading to a 22-4 deficit in second-chance points.
"They were bigger than us at almost every position and then we didn't do a good job running down balls. So rebounding was an issue," coach Brad Stevens said.
Kelly Olynyk had 17 points and seven boards for the Celtics, who had won four in a row and 11 of 12. Terry Rozier made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.
The Bulls played without guard Dwyane Wade and forward Paul Zipser due to injuries. Wade has been hampered by a bruised right wrist, and woke up Thursday with an illness. Zipser is dealing with left ankle tendinitis.
The break will give the 35-year-old Wade a couple weeks of rest between games.
"It'll be two full weeks since he had the wrist injury, so again, hopefully we'll get him back full strength when we return," Hoiberg said.
Avery Bradley remained out for Boston, and rookie forward Jaylen Brown missed his third straight game with a right hip strain. Bradley, who is averaging 17.7 points, hasn't played in a month because of a sore right Achilles.
FROM DEEP
Boston made 10 of its 14 3-point attempts on its way to a 58-52 halftime lead. The Celtics have made 10-plus 3s in 15 consecutive games.
TIP-INS

Wolves roll short-handed Bulls to help Thibs to season sweep
AP Basketball Writer
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Tom Thibodeau insisted this was just another game, that there were no hard feelings lingering or extra incentive added when facing the Chicago Bulls after such an acrimonious split in 2015.
The players on his new team and the players on his old team seem to think otherwise.
Andrew Wiggins scored 27 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the severely short-handed Bulls 117-89 on Sunday.
Ricky Rubio had 17 points, 11 assists and six rebounds and Minnesota shot 54 percent to help Thibodeau sweep the season series against his former team.
"It's always hard when you've been through things with people," Thibodeau said. "I really root for that team, those guys, particularly the ones I've coached before. I want them to do well except when we play against them. It's a great basketball city. It's a great organization. I had five great years there."
Doug McDermott scored 16 points and made four 3-pointers for the Bulls, who were missing Jimmy Butler, Dwyane Wade, Nikola Mirotic and Paul Zipser with injuries. The Bulls turned the ball over 18 times, were outrebounded 46-35 and were outscored 56-38 in the paint.
Thibodeau's contentious firing was well-documented, but much of the drama was addressed during Minnesota's visit to Chicago in December. The Timberwolves overcame a 21-point deficit to win that game, which started a 13-10 stretch that helped them climb back into the playoff picture in the muddled Western Conference.
"He has a good way of hiding stuff and that kind of emotion," Wiggins said when asked if Thibodeau got an extra charge out of beating the Bulls. "But I would if I was him."
And while the Wolves have taken another step back recently, that December meeting was a prime example of the dysfunction plaguing the Bulls since Thibodeau was fired. Injuries, a lack of shooting and team chemistry issues have weighed on them all season long as they try to stay afloat in the East.
Badly outmanned on Sunday, the Bulls were put away quickly. The Wolves led by 19 in the first quarter and 26 in the first half.
The Bulls made their first five 3-pointers of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 13, but Thibodeau kept his starters in deep into the fourth quarter to push the lead back to 30.
"I know him too well. When most people think it's not a big deal, it's a big deal to him," Bulls forward Taj Gibson said. "You see him coaching the whole game. He even left some of the guys in late. I can see his hand shaking from over there on our end. I know he really wanted to win that game."
TIP-INS
Bulls: Chicago hit 10 of 25 3-pointers, the first time in 16 games they have hit at least 10. ... Bobby Portis scored 16 points off the bench. ... Michael Carter-Williams (12) and Robin Lopez (10) were the only other Bulls starters in double figures. ... Coach Fred Hoiberg played for the Timberwolves and still owns a home in the Brainerd Lakes area.
Timberwolves: Nemanja Bjelica broke out of a shooting slump with three 3s and scored 16 points off the bench. ... Gorgui Dieng added 10 points and 13 rebounds. ... It was the first sellout of the season for the Wolves, thanks to a healthy youth crowd for the matinee and a strong contingent of Bulls fans.
WOUNDED BULLS
Butler aggravated a bruised right heel on Friday night against Phoenix. The injury had kept him out of three games prior to the loss to the Suns, and Hoiberg said it was too early to tell whether Butler's start in the All-Star game in New Orleans next Sunday is in jeopardy.
Wade missed the game with a swollen right wrist, and X-rays showed no fractures. Mirotic had back spasms and Zipser had a sore left ankle and a stomach illness. That left the Bulls with 10 healthy players. Hoiberg started Jerian Grant, Carter-Williams, McDermott, Lopez and Gibson.
UP NEXT
Bulls: Chicago finally gets back home on Tuesday to face Toronto after a road trip that began on Feb. 1.
Timberwolves: Minnesota wraps up a six-game homestand with a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, though former Wolves All-Star Kevin Love will miss the game with a knee injury.

Panik scores twice and Blackhawks roll over Oilers 5-1
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- Richard Panik scored twice and set up another goal and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 on Saturday night for their fifth straight win.
Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists and Trevor van Riemsdyk and Artem Anisimov also scored for the Blackhawks, who had lost three in a row before their recent run.
Patrick Maroon scored for the Oilers, who have lost four of five.
Scott Darling made 30 saves for Chicago. Cam Talbot started in goal for Edmonton and allowed four goals on 20 shots before being relieved by Laurent Brossoit.
Edmonton started the scoring 4:01 into the opening period when Connor McDavid deftly stole a puck from defender Niklas Hjalmarsson and sent a backhand pass in front to Maroon, who beat Darling for his 19th goal of the season.
The Blackhawks scored less than two minutes later when Panik walked in from the point to take a pass and blasted a shot past Talbot.
Chicago surged ahead midway through the first with a power-play goal as Kane was able to bank a shot off Talbot's skate from behind the net during a scramble in front for his 19th of the year.
The Hawks made it 3-1 before the nine-minute mark of the second period when Edmonton's Oscar Klefbom had a chance to clear but instead put it right on van Riemsdyk's stick, and he beat Talbot high to the glove side.
Chicago scored another power-play goal late in the second period, when Panik swatted in a rebound during another scramble for his 14th of the season.
Brossoit came in to replace Talbot for the third.
Anisimov battled hard in front of the net to add another goal, his 20th, with four minutes left in the third.
NOTES: The Oilers were returning from their five-day break, while it was the last game for the Blackhawks before starting theirs. ... It was the second of three meetings between the two teams this season. The Oilers won the previous game at home on Nov. 21, when Talbot recorded a shutout in a 5-0 victory.
UP NEXT
Blackhawks: Are off until Feb. 18, when they host Edmonton.

Booker scores 27 points, Suns roll past Bulls 115-97
AP Sports Writer
PHOENIX (AP) -- Chicago is the latest Eastern Conference team to fall to the Phoenix Suns, another ugly loss for the Bulls on the road.
Devin Booker scored 27 points, Eric Bledsoe added 23 and the Suns rolled past Chicago 115-97 on Friday night.
Jimmy Butler scored 20 and Dwyane Wade 18 for the Bulls, who were coming off a 31-point loss at Golden State two nights earlier.
"Awful, awful," Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg said. "They outcompeted us in every category tonight - every category - rebounding, loose balls, transition 19-6 (in fast-break points). That tells you all you need to know."
The Suns, with the second-worst record in the NBA, snapped a three-game losing streak and won for just the second time in 10 games.
But they are 11-7 against the East, 7-4 at home. Of course, that makes them 5-30 against the Western Conference.
"We just keep navigating through this season," Phoenix coach Earl Watson said. "It hasn't been the easiest season, but we understand where we started. ... With our young, feisty roster, we continue to push forward."
Butler played despite a bruised right heel, and Wade had an upper respiratory illness.
"Obviously, I was under the weather," Wade said. "I'm just trying to fight fatigue and Jimmy the same thing, trying to come back after being off for a while."
Butler said he was in "a little pain."
"I don't want to say that I'm out there completely healthy, but I want to compete," he said. "I was just hoping this thing goes away so I'm not favoring it. And it's crazy because the way that the game goes, sometimes you've got to use that foot and you try to avoid it."
Chicago has lost three of four, with one stop remaining on a six-game road trip.
T.J. Warren scored 16 and Alan Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix.
Phoenix was up by 13 at halftime, led by 14 in the third quarter and opened a 20-point advantage down the stretch in the fourth.
"Just playing defense," Booker said. "I put this game up there with any other game with us playing defense this year. We were at our best, we were helping each other, a lot of communication going on. We've been saying it all year, we can score with anybody, it's just about getting stops."
Chicago had an early 25-16 lead, but the Suns outscored Chicago 23-6 over the final 8:41 of the first half to lead 56-43 at the break.
The Bulls opened the second half with a 9-2 spurt to cut the margin to 58-52, but Bledsoe responded with a three-point play and P.J. Tucker's 3-pointer gave Phoenix a 59-45 lead with 4:40 left in the third quarter.
Chicago scored the first two points of the fourth to get within eight, but never got closer.
Booker's 3 capped a 15-4 run that gave Phoenix its biggest lead, 109-89, with 2:58 to play.
CENTER SHORTAGE
Phoenix center Tyson Chandler sprained his right ankle with 3:50 to play in the first half and did not return. The Suns already were without Chandler's backup, Alex Len, who was suspended by the NBA for one game for leaving the bench during an altercation with the Grizzlies in Memphis on Wednesday night. Their absences meant extra playing time for Williams, who made the most of his 24 minutes on the court.
Williams, who grew up in Phoenix, usually is the most animated player cheering on his teammates from the bench.
"He brings it every day in practice, he brings it every day on the bench," Booker said. "So to see him out there shining and getting this opportunity in front of his hometown, it's unbelievable."
TIP-INS
Bulls: Fell to 26-28. ... Chicago missed 13 of its last 16 shots in the first half. ... The Bulls hadn't played Phoenix in 15 months. The Suns won that game in Chicago 103-101 by scoring the final seven points. ... The Bulls host the Suns in two weeks.
Suns: The crowd of 18,055 was the Suns' sixth sellout of the season. ... Ex-Suns star Shawn Marion had a courtside seat with his young son. ... Williams' mother, Jeri Williams, is the Phoenix police chief. ... Phoenix is second to Golden State in fast-break points.
UP NEXT
Bulls: Complete a six-game road trip at Minnesota on Sunday.

Kane and linemates Artem Anisimov and Artemi Panarin each scored and combined for seven points to help the Blackhawks beat the Jets 5-2 on Friday night. Winnipeg won the first four games between the teams this season, outscoring Chicago 14-5.
"I think we had a great first. That's the way we want to play right there," Kane said. "Every line was going, we had a couple good power plays. We didn't score on them, but had some chances, got the lead and great period overall. That's the way we want to play."
Duncan Keith's late goal was the winner, and Marian Hossa also scored.
The goaltenders were busy in the fifth and final meeting of the season between the Central Division rivals.
Chicago's Corey Crawford made 28 saves in his 22nd victory of the season.
"I think, definitely, we played really good in our end," Hossa said. "Obviously, Corey stood on his head tonight, but I think overall we're improving defensively which is a good sign."
Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced.
"(Hellebuyck was) real good," Jets coach Paul Maurice said. "Busy overall, for sure early which is tough. You'd love to see him ease into a game. It was lots of action to the net early in the game."
Bryan Little and Adam Lowry scored for Winnipeg.
"I thought we had a bit of a slow start. I thought they came out hungry and controlled a lot of the play early in the game and got that goal right away," Little said. "I thought we did a good job in the second and the third battling back and getting our chances and making it a close game."
Kane opened the scoring at 15:37 of the opening period with his 18th of the season, firing a one-timer off Panarin's long cross-ice feed to beat Hellebuyck low to the glove side.
The goal was Kane's 269th, moving him past Tony Amonte for the most goals by an American in Blackhawks history, and into sixth on the overall franchise list.
Little found the equalizer for Winnipeg at 1:43 of the second, quickly grabbing a net-side rebound off a Tobias Enstrom point shot.
Anisimov scored late in the second. Kane set up Panarin for a one timer and Anisimov buried the rebound, moving him into a brief tie with Hossa for the team lead in goals at 19.
Keith added his goal with less than three minutes remaining, scoring his fifth of the season on a point-blast to make it 3-1. Hossa moved back into the team goal lead with a short-handed empty-netter, and Panarin added another into an empty net to ice it with 16 seconds left.

Durant, Thompson help Warriors bounce back, beat Bulls
AP Sports Writer
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- The Golden State Warriors got their pass-happy, 3-point swishing groove back.
That's what they do. When they lose, they find a way to find themselves the very next time out. Never a losing streak.
Kevin Durant responded from his worst game since joining the Warriors with 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals, and Golden State beat the short-handed Chicago Bulls 123-92 Wednesday night for a 138th straight regular-season game without consecutive defeats.
"KD kind of rounded into form and had a nice all-around night," coach Steve Kerr said.
Klay Thompson scored 28 points with six 3-pointers playing on his 27th birthday, Stephen Curry added 13 points and six rebounds and the Warriors had all five starters score in double figures for the fourth time.
Golden State hasn't lost consecutive regular-season games since April 5 and 7, 2015, at San Antonio and New Orleans, during its championship season.
This was the Warriors' eighth win following a loss this season and 18th in a row overall since those dates in '15.
"We don't like losing back-to-back games, 138 straight regular-season games doing that, that's really impressive, got to keep it going," Thompson said.
Robin Lopez had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for the undermanned Bulls playing back in the Bay Area where he attended Stanford.
Draymond Green had 19 points with five 3-pointers, eight rebounds and six assists while fill-in starting center JaVale McGee had 13 points and six rebounds for Golden State, coming off a 109-106 overtime loss at Sacramento on Saturday in a game Kerr called one of his team's worst. The reigning NBA Coach of the Year was ejected late in the third quarter at Golden 1 Center and fined $25,000 for cursing at official Bill Spooner and failing to leave the court in a timely manner. Durant and Green got into a heated argument near the bench that night, too.
Durant went 2 for 10 with 10 points and missed all six of his 3-point tries against the Kings.
Golden State hit 15 of 28 3-pointers against Chicago, shot 55.8 percent overall and dished out 37 assists on 48 field goals.
The Bulls were short-handed. Dwyane Wade missed the game with an upper respiratory illness for a Chicago team that had averaged 119.5 points over its previous four outings and limited the Kings to 11 fourth-quarter points in Monday's 112-107 win at Sacramento.
The Bulls, who began 4 for 15 and fell behind 23-11, shot just 40.2 percent and 4 of 24 from long range.
"We committed a lot of turnovers early that got us playing behind and gave them a lot of confidence," Lopez said "That's a tough situation to be in in this building."
PAYING TRIBUTE
Thompson rejoined the team earlier in the day and made his 400th career start following two days away to attend his grandfather's funeral in Vancouver, Washington.
Now, he will push forward and plans to play for all of his family members no longer with him.
"It was great seeing family. It was a tough time, obviously, and it still is," he said. "It hasn't really sunk in. It was really nice to get out there tonight because my family loves to watch me play and it gives them a lot of pride seeing me out on the court. It's a great way to honor them."

Bulls: G/F Jimmy Butler missed his third straight game for Chicago because of a bruised right heel. ... F Cristiano FelÃcio returned after missing Monday's game with a strained right lower leg. ... F Paul Zipser suffered a left ankle injury in the first quarter and didn't return.

Wade scores 31, Bulls blow big lead but hold off Kings
Associated Press
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Dwyane Wade knows he's lost some of his athleticism. But the Chicago Bulls' veteran guard hasn't lost the ability to make clutch shots.
Wade scored 31 points, including the final seven for Chicago to rescue the Bulls and help them hold off the Sacramento Kings 112-107 on Monday night.
The 35-year-old Wade had 11 points in the fourth quarter and hit the biggest shot of the game, a tiebreaking 20-footer to put Chicago ahead for good at 109-107 with 13 seconds left.
"He's a great player and hit a big one for us. He's been doing that for a (long) while," teammate Michael Carter-Williams said. "His instincts are still there. He comes up big down the stretch."
After the Bulls squandered a 27-point lead in the second half, Wade's late-game heroics included one more critical play. He stole the inbounds pass following a timeout and went the length of the court for a dunk to make it a four-point lead.
"Dwyane Wade played an unbelievable game. Take your hats (off) to him. It was vintage Dwyane Wade," Kings guard Darren Collison said.
Wade added a free throw with a second to play following the second technical foul of the night on a furious DeMarcus Cousins, who thought he was fouled on a 3-point attempt. Cousins was ejected after picking up his 16th technical of the season, a total that triggers an automatic one-game suspension.
Just after the third quarter ended, a minor fracas broke out that involved Cousins, teammate Matt Barnes, Bulls assistant head coach Jim Boylen and Chicago forward Taj Gibson. Cousins shoved Boylen's arm away as tempers flared, and all three players were given technicals.
It was a frustrating night for Cousins. He missed 11 of 16 shots and finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He left the locker room after the game, refusing to talk to the media.
Sacramento coach Dave Joerger wasn't sure if the Kings will have Cousins against Boston on Wednesday.
"I don't know, we'll have to wait and see," Joerger said.
Carter-Williams had 21 points for the Bulls, and Robin Lopez scored 17. Jerian Grant added 13 points as Chicago won its second straight and third in four games.
The Bulls played without leading scorer Jimmy Butler, who missed his second consecutive game with a bruised right heel. He participated in Monday's shootaround and was a game-time decision.
Wade is well aware of how Butler's absence affects his role.
"I know I'm going to get the ball more and have to make more plays," Wade said. "I'm kind of in the Jimmy role. I know I have to take more shots and score more."
Ty Lawson had 22 points and seven assists, and Matt Barnes added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Kings. Collison scored 14 for Sacramento, which has lost four of five.
A corner 3 by Grant gave the Bulls their biggest lead, 82-55, with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter. The Kings cut it to a basket on several occasions in the fourth and tied it on Cousins' bucket with 36 seconds left, but could never take the lead in losing to the Bulls for a fifth straight time.
Sacramento scored 11 straight points to pull to 93-90. Cousins made a driving layup to tie it.
"Obviously, it was a slow start, a very slow start. That's probably an understatement. It's inexcusable," Collison said. "If we don't put ourselves in that hole, that probably gives us a good shot to win."
TIP-INS
Bulls: Rajon Rondo, who led the NBA in assists last season with the Kings, drew a fair amount of boos when he entered in the first quarter. ... Gibson picked up three quick fouls in succession early in the fourth quarter and fouled out late in the game.
Kings: Shot 5 of 20 in the first quarter and trailed 27-11. ... It was the third of a six-game homestand that concludes Sunday against New Orleans.
UP NEXT
Bulls: A six-game road trip gets more difficult Wednesday at Golden State.

At 8:16 a.m., a drive-by shooting left a 25-year-old man in serious condition at Mount Sinai with gunshot wounds to the leg and back after the attack in the 1800 block of South Kildare, police said.
Monday’s first shooting happened shortly after midnight in Avalon Park on the South Side, where someone ran up and shot a woman and man, ages 39 and 40, who were sitting in a car in the 8200 block of South Blackstone. She was shot in the chest and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition; he was stabilized at Jackson Park Hospital with an arm wound, police said.
The Blackstone victims were among 22 people shot in Chicago over the weekend. At least 355 people have been shot across the city so far this year, leaving 58 dead.
Man gets 2 years in prison for unlicensed plumbing work
A northwest suburban man was sentenced to two years in prison for violating a court order that prohibited him from performing plumbing work in Illinois.
Joel Ullmer, 48, pleaded guilty in DuPage County Circuit Court to indirect criminal contempt for collecting more than $23,000 from consumers for unlicensed plumbing work, according to a statement from Illinois attorney general’s office.
A DuPage County judge in 2003 barred Ullmer from working as a plumber without first obtaining a state-required license, the attorney general’s office said. Since the judge’s order, Ullmer entered into contracts with seven customers and accepted $23,404 in payments despite still being unlicensed.
After he took the payments, Ullmer either didn’t perform any work or began projects but left them mostly unfinished, prosecutors said. He also didn’t inform the customers about their right to cancel a contract within three days and did not return down payments despite failing to complete the work.
In 2008, Ullmer, of Norridge, was found to be in violation of the court ruling and ordered to pay restitution, prosecutors said. After pleading guilty, he was sentenced to two years in prison.

Brady leads biggest comeback, Patriots win 34-28 in OT
Associated Press
HOUSTON (AP) — They looked old and outmanned. Their star quarterback was frazzled, their stingy defense was a sieve.
So what? Tom Brady and the New England Patriots shrugged and did what they always seem to do: Win the Super Bowl.
Brady led one of the greatest comebacks in sports history highlighted by a Julian Edelman catch that was almost beyond belief. The Patriots pulled themselves out of a 25-point hole against the Atlanta Falcons to a 34-28 win for New England's fifth NFL championship. It was the first Super Bowl decided in overtime.
"There were a lot of plays that coach talks about, you never know which one is going to be the Super Bowl winner," said Brady, who earned a record fourth MVP award and a fifth Super Bowl ring, the most for a quarterback. "There were probably 30 of those plays tonight and (if) any one of those were different, the outcome could have been different."
But down 28-3 in the third quarter, Tom?
"It's hard to imagine us winning," the 39-year-old Brady said. "It took a lot of great plays and that's why you play to the end."
The Patriots scored 19 points in the final quarter, including a pair of 2-point conversions, then marched relentlessly to James White's 2-yard touchdown run in overtime after winning the coin toss. White scored three touchdowns and a 2-pointer.
"We knew we had a shot the whole game," White said. "It was an amazing comeback by our team. It's surreal right now. You couldn't write this script."
Brady guided the Patriots (17-2) through a tiring Atlanta defense for fourth-quarter touchdowns on a 6-yard pass to Danny Amendola and a 1-yard run by White, which came with 57 seconds remaining in regulation. White ran for the first 2-pointer and Amendola did the deed with a reception on the second.
Brady finished 43 for 62, the most attempts in Super Bowl history, for 466 yards, also a record, and two touchdowns.
Before the stunning rally — New England already held the biggest comeback in the final period when it turned around a 10-point deficit to beat Seattle two years ago — the Falcons (13-6) appeared poised to take their first NFL championship in 51 seasons. Having never been in such a pressurized environment, their previously staunch pass rush disappeared, they stumbled on offense and Brady tore them apart.
"There's nothing you can really say," Ryan said. "That's a tough loss, obviously very disappointing, very close to getting done what we wanted to get done."
It wasn't difficult for Patriots owner Robert Kraft as he accepted the Lombardi Trophy from Commissioner Roger Goodell, who naturally drew a flood of boos from New England fans on hand. Yes, "Deflategate" might be far behind Kraft and Brady, but it's not forgotten.
"Two years ago, we won our fourth Super Bowl down in Arizona and I told our fans that was the sweetest one of all," owner Robert Kraft said. "But a lot has transpired over the last two years and I don't think that needs any explanation.
"I want to say to our fans, our brilliant coaching staff, our amazing players who were so spectacular, this is unequivocally the sweetest."
Brady and coach Bill Belichick won their 25th postseason game, by far a record. The Falcons added to Atlanta's long history of pro sports frustration.
Belichick became the first coach with five Super Bowl crowns.
The Patriots won the coin toss for overtime, and by then it was no contest. Brady completed six passes against an overmatched Falcons secondary. A pass interference call took the ball to the 2, and White scooted to his right and barely over the goal line.
His teammates streamed off the sideline to engulf White as confetti streamed down from the NRG Stadium rafters.
The comeback included dozens of huge plays, including Ryan's fumble on a sack, Edelman's catch off of a defender's shoe and Brady's passing.
White had 14 receptions for 110 yards, but Brady hit seven different receivers.
Until the Patriots took charge with their late surge, league MVP Ryan was outplaying Brady and NRG stadium rocked with Falcons' fans chants of "A-T-L!"
In a game that started as a defensive struggle, the Falcons went sack-happy, getting two on the Patriots' second drive in what would be a scoreless opening quarter.
It sure looked as if the Patriots would get on the board immediately in the second period as Brady and Edelman connected twice for 40 yards. But LeGarrette Blount's fumble turned the momentum to the Falcons, who then took their biggest lead in a Super Bowl — yeah, we know, they have been here only twice — on Freeman's 5-yard run to cap a quick 71-yard drive on which Jones came alive.
Jones showed why he is an All-Pro receiver with a tough leaping catch over the middle for 19 yards, then got open on the sideline for 23. Freeman did the rest.
Before New England could catch its breath, Ryan had the Falcons up 14-0. Using the no-huddle attack to perfection, he threw for 51 yards on a 52-yard drive, hitting Hooper with a pinpoint pass in the left side of the end zone.
Then Brady was victimized by his own poor decision, a rarity on the big stage. Atlanta was called for defensive holding three times on third downs to keep the drive alive. From the Falcons 23, under pressure Brady tried to squeeze a throw to Danny Amendola. Alford stepped in and sprinted, then glided 82 yards for the second-longest pick-6 in a Super Bowl — and Brady's first.
Shockingly, it was 21-0.
New England gathered its wits for a 52-yard drive to Stephen Gostkowski's 41-yard field goal. Still, it was 21-3 when Lady Gaga took the stage.
There was smoke hanging over the field when both teams had three-and-outs to open the third quarter. The Falcons looked in control when Ryan and Co., marched 85 yards to Coleman's 6-yard TD catch on a swing pass.
New England scored the next nine points on James White's 5-yard TD reception — the extra point was missed by Gostkowski, who later made a 33-yard field goal.
The Patriots kept coming, the Falcons kept flopping, and soon Brady and his buddies somehow had No. 5.
"Just play every play," Edelman said. "We never quit."

Van Riemsdyk scores late, Blackhawks beat Stars 5-3
Van Riemsdyk put in a rebound for his second goal of the season with 4:03 left, lifting Chicago over the Dallas Stars 5-3 on Saturday night. Goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped a close-range shot by Artem Anisimov, but van Riemsdyk followed to put the puck under Lehtonen and make it 4-3.
The 25-year-old van Riemsdyk has five goals in 130 career games. Rookie Gustav Forsling also scored his second of the season for the Blackhawks, who are in second place behind Minnesota in the Central Division.
"We're going to need everybody," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "Talk about everybody or anybody, not just worried about the young guys. We need everyone to be progressing at a good rate here. Our last two games, there were a lot of good things."
Van Riemsdyk's older brother, James, also had a late game-winning goal on Saturday, helping the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Boston Bruins 6-5.
Toews added an empty-net goal in the final second for his 10th of the season. Kane tied the game with his 17th goal just 35 seconds after Seguin put the Stars ahead 3-2 at 9:24.
Kane beat defenseman John Klingberg, skated across the goal mouth and put the puck into the right side of the net.
"We're behind and all of a sudden Kane makes an extremely amazing play with quickness and beats (Lehtonen) with a nice move and we're back in the game," Quenneville said. "Another nice finish on the winner and we'll take it. We came back in a situation where lately our thirds haven't been great."
Dallas is 0-18-2 when trailing after two periods.
"When we took the lead, I would want (the Blackhawks) to earn it," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "They didn't earn it.
"The numbers don't describe the real bad plays and the numbers don't mean anything if you make a play you don't need to make. We know Kane's on the ice. John struggled on that play."
Benn tied it 40 seconds into the third, and Radek Faksa also scored for Dallas. Lehtonen made 31 saves.
Corey Crawford stopped 31 shots for Chicago, and the Blackhawks are 4-0 against Dallas this season. Ryan Hartman (12th) and Forsling scored in the second period for the Blackhawks.
To start the second, Faksa chased down the puck low in the left faceoff circle and sent a shot from a sharp angle behind Crawford eight seconds in.
Hartman took a pass from Tanner Kero on the edge of the left circle and beat Lehtonen at 6:34.
With the score tied, Lehtonen stopped a breakaway by Kane at 8:08. Just 26 seconds later, Forsling fired a shot from the blue line through the slot and over a screen by Marcus Kruger, who ducked as the puck passed him.
Benn's goal was on a backhand from the left of the net.
NOTES: Faksa's goal was the fastest in the second period in Dallas' 23 seasons. The previous fastest was 13 seconds. The fastest in any period was by Joe Nieuwendyk seven seconds into a game at Detroit on Nov. 13, 1998. ... The Blackhawks had lost three of four games before Saturday. ... Dallas finished a season-high six-game homestand 2-2-2. ... Anisimov has gone 13 games without a goal. He and Marian Hossa each had two assists. Hossa has 41 points (21 goals, 20 assists) in 45 career games vs. Dallas.

Blackhawks: Play their fourth of six straight on the road when they visit Central Division leader Minnesota on Wednesday.
Stars: Will travel to Toronto for the first leg of a two-game Canadian road trip Tuesday.
